Kidís Kamp is a five day, five night, overnight camping experience at Camp Cazadero in Sonoma County, Northern California. Each year approximately 30 children , ages 8 Ė 11, who have participated in the Childrenís Place Program, can put aside the stress and concerns of growing up in a chemically dependent family and attend Kidís Kamp.
Kidís Kamp is staffed by a Program Director, Interns, Trainees, and trained volunteers. At Kidís Kamp children find a safe, nurturing environment where they can be kids and have fun!!
Kidís Kamp offers a wide variety of activities, including swimming, nature walks, arts and crafts projects, story telling, nightly campfires, baseball, basketball, and a talent show. The Childrenís Place curriculum topics are incorporated into the daily activity schedule. Topics include communication, defenses, expressing feelings, addiction, problem-solving, decision making, and staying safe.
Kidís Kamp is a time of genuine caring. It is a time of finding a safe place to share with old friends and to make new ones. It is a time to laugh. It is a time to cry. It is a time to learn and grow, to trust and heal. During this process the children build upon their strengths, deepen their resilience, and further their intrinsic beauty and worth.
