Community Groups
Mission: To break the intergenerational cycle of chemical dependency
Outcome Objectives:
• Increase in perceived social support
• Decrease in feelings of shame, guilt, self-blame, and hopelessness
• Increase in healthy coping skills
• Increase in knowledge about the manifestations, biological basis, and consequences of addiction
Focus:
Target Population: Children growing up in chemically dependent families
Ages: Children ages 5-13
Structure: Three 10 week cycles annually Fall, Winter, and Spring
Groups: Closed, structured, age appropriate, developmentally appropriate and culturally appropriate
Curriculum: The Children's Place Program
Facilitators: MFT trainees/interns
Co-Facilitators: Trained Mid-Peninsula Junior League Members
Time: 6:00-7:00 P.M. Wednesday Evening
